Indonesia Village Sinking

This village in Indonesia is sinking. It is going down into the water very fast. The village is called Timbulsloko and it is on the Javanese coast.

The water is slowly taking the land away. This is called coastal erosion. Normally, mangroves help stop the waves and keep the sand in place. But many of them have been cut down or damaged.

Some families have to leave the village because of this problem. But others are staying and trying to adapt. They are making changes to their houses or switching from farming to fishing.
