The Cost of War

Wars are very costly. The world spends almost $3 trillion a year on weapons, tanks, and planes. After a war, it costs a lot to rebuild. This can add hundreds of billions of dollars to the cost. Wars also destroy the land and make it hard to farm. Landmines can cost up to $1,000 to remove. This makes it hard for people to grow food and for businesses to make money.

When there is a war, investors often leave the country. This can cause inflation, which makes the money people have worth less. After 10 years, countries are usually 12% poorer. Young people are often the ones who suffer the most. Many of them have to leave their homes and become refugees. Those who stay often fall behind in school because schools are destroyed. Those who leave can make their country poorer because they take their skills and knowledge with them.

In the end, war is very bad for everyone. It not only destroys the present, but it also hurts the future. War makes people more likely to have anxiety and depression. It can even affect the DNA of children. Countries that go to war once are more likely to go to war again. So, we should try to avoid war and find peaceful solutions to problems.
