Imagine you are enjoying a football game with your friends. Suddenly, someone takes your picture and posts it online to make fun of you. This happened to a group of Asian students at the University of Texas. A politician named Bo French shared their photo on his social media page.
Bo French is a candidate who wants to win an election in Texas. He wants to represent the people of his state. However, many people are angry because his post was xenophobic. This means it showed dislike or fear of people from other countries or cultures. The photo showed Asian students watching the game, and the post made a mean joke about them. Soon, he received a lot of criticism from people who saw the post. This created a huge backlash online, with many people saying the post was very controversial. They believe that a leader should respect everyone. Our schools and cities have a lot of diversity, which means people from many different backgrounds live together. People in the community felt hurt and upset by the post. They wanted the politician to delete the photo and apologize.
The internet is a powerful platform where words can hurt real people. It is important to think before we post things online. Bo French has faced many questions about his post, but the students just wanted to enjoy their school game in peace.
