Young People Struggle

Many young people in London are looking for work, but they can't find a job. This is a big problem. One in four young people in London don't have a job. I want to know why this is happening. I spoke to Theo, who applied for many jobs but didn't get any. He was very sad and didn't know what to do. Theo's story is not unusual. Many young people in London are struggling to find work.

The UK's unemployment rate for young people is around 15%, but in London, it's 25%. This is very high. I asked Jonathan, who works with numbers, to help me understand what's going on. He said that the number of jobs available is going down. This means that it's harder for young people to find work. The jobs that are available are often in industries like art and entertainment, but these jobs are getting harder to find.

I also spoke to Megan, who knows a lot about work and money. She said that the pandemic made it hard for young people to get work experience. Many young people are struggling to find jobs because traditional businesses like retail and hospitality are not hiring as many people as they used to. Vocational scarring is a big problem. It means that if you don't get a job when you're young, you might not get a good job later in life. Theo finally got a job after a year of looking. He was relieved and happy. He said that he didn't give up, and that's what we should all do.
