Laos Cave Rescue Operation

A week after being trapped by floodwaters in a cave in Laos, the first of five villagers was rescued on Friday night. He was taken for a medical check after being rescued. The rescuers had to suspend the evacuation of the other four for a day. They will resume the search for two missing people.

The rescuers will go 20 to 25 meters further away from where the people are trapped to search for the missing two. However, that area has a lot of water because it is even deeper than the current location. The trapped men have been supplied with water, food, and blankets. The rescuers had to make their way through narrow passages to reach them. The five men were found alive on Wednesday, about 300 meters from the exit of the cave.

The villagers were trapped while searching for gold after heavy rain triggered flash flooding. One villager escaped in time and alerted the authorities. Some of the rescuers in Laos also took part in the rescue of 12 schoolboys and their football coach in neighboring Thailand in 2018. The rescuers were very brave and helped the people in need.
