A news helicopter crashed in downtown Los Angeles while filming a deadly bus collision. On board were a seasoned pilot and a local reporter. A pedestrian walking nearby also lost his life.
The aircraft lifted off to get aerial footage of the bus wreckage. Within minutes, the helicopter struck a high‑voltage line, causing a sudden loss of power. The resulting collision sent the craft spiraling down onto a busy street. Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene, declaring a state of emergency. They attempted a rescue operation, but the impact was too severe for the pilot and the reporter. A nearby witness reported hearing a loud bang and seeing the rotors spin wildly before the aircraft fell. City officials opened an investigation to examine flight logs, weather data, and maintenance records. The official statement promised a thorough review to prevent similar tragedies.
The community mourns the loss of two media professionals and a passerby. Colleagues of the fallen reporter have posted tributes online, while the airline that owned the helicopter pledged full cooperation with authorities. The upcoming report will aim to improve safety standards for news‑gathering flights.
