China's lonely men are being conned by fake marriages

China's demographic imbalance has created a perfect storm for scammers to target single men. With 30 million more men than women, the competition for a wife is fierce.

The Chinese authorities have issued a warning about the rise in marriage fraud. Scammers are using matchmaking agencies to arrange fake weddings, often in a matter of days.

These agencies, known as the 'flash marriage' industry, have become a lucrative business for scammers. They prey on desperate men who are willing to spend their life savings on a fake wedding.

Our correspondent, Laura Bicker, spoke to some of the men who fell victim to these scams. They shared their stories of how they were conned into spending their savings on fake weddings.
